Happy #WellnessWomen Wednesday! This seems to be the theme, anyway, so we are going with it. 😉 It’s a good week to have a good week because my bestie just had her first baby! Let’s just say she’s pretty much the cutest thing ever and I am already claiming the name as Auntie M. I can’t wait to photograph baby girl growing up over the years. It’s going to be fun!

As you read this, I will most likely be flying out to the PNW for the Nutritional Therapy Conference. This year’s theme is LIVE NOURISHED. I will actually be out there mostly cheering (aka working) my girl boss friends on as they work their booths (SkinFoodie + Totem) thru the whole weekend, but I hope to catch a talk or two from some of the speakers!

I am also REALLY hoping to get a chance to talk to Emily Schromm because she is like my ultimate girl crush. A self-proclaimed “MeatHead Hippie“, Emily is equal parts badass gym rat + intuitive healer. I love how she applies + adapts her NTP training to the CrossFit realm; it’s something I totally felt was missing and she seriously does a great job at it. Check her out ASAP, if you haven’t already.

Anyway, I will be working with my ladies (come shop!) and walking around with a pretty sweet deal for our upcoming retreat! So, if you are there, come find me! (And be looking for another recap post when I get back!)

I’m Michelle Hoover! I’m an NTP, blogger, recipe developer, writer, and podcaster… just to name a few. I blog over at UnboundWellness.com where I share paleo and AIP recipes and my journey with Hashimoto’s and gut issues. My husband and I live in Dallas, TX with our cat Stinky, and I’m excited to be living my dream of helping others with my story!

That’s a hard one… I love food so much! My favorite meal is probably pot roast, and my favorite indulgence is chocolate chip cookies!

Podcasts for sure! I love tuning into a podcast when I need to unwind. I have so many favorites.

WHAT TYPE OF MOVEMENT BRINGS YOU JOY?

Yoga is my current favorite, but I enjoy weight lifting as well.

SHARE A BIT ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL HEALTH JOURNEY.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s when I was 17 after dealing with nagging health issues my whole life. It snowballed into serious leaky gut and food intolerances, and I spent years trying to get a handle on my health and food. Everything changed when I found functional medicine, adopted a paleo/AIP diet and stopped feeling like a victim in my own body. I had the power to change things, and I did.

DO YOU CURRENTLY HAVE A HEALTH PRACTICE? IF SO, WHAT YOU DO SPECIALIZE IN?

I’m not working 1:1 with clients right now, but I specialize in autoimmunity and gut issues.

My blog is “professional”, but it’s always personal first. I always share my own story as my best testimony.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO CONVEY TO OTHER WOMEN SEEKING OPTIMAL HEALTH?

You won’t always be 100% healthy and happy… it’s just not possible. Bad things happen to good people, and we can’t always enjoy perfection in health and life. But you can continue to strive for better health daily and work to be a happier person. Always strive to be better, and never give up.

IF YOU COULD GIVE ONE TIP TO SOMEONE JUST STARTING OUT ON THEIR HEALTH JOURNEY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Don’t look at the changes your making as “restrictive”.. view them as empowering. You’re empowering yourself to live a happier, healthier life. Never feel sorry for yourself for that.

ANY FUN FACTS?

Food and health are my passions, but I’m also really into vintage fashion! I often post my vintage finds on Instagram! I love the 60s and 70s, and really only get excited about the authentic stuff… and I kind of can’t stand “vintage inspired”. Spoken like a true hipster.
