Motivation Monday: Think YES.

This past weekend I went to the Fresh Grounded Faith women’s conference with two sweet friends at my church, Stonegate Fellowship. It was such a great time of reflection + rejuvenation.

One of the speakers, author Jennifer Rothschild, often referred back to one phrase that truly struck a cord with me: We need to be “YES” women (men this applies to you, too!). We need to be Tiggers instead of Eeyores. Positive, humble + joyful in the way we act and react to all of the things that life entails.

How do we become a “YES” Tigger-kind-of-person?

Jennifer said it simply starts with our thoughts. Thinking “YES” thoughts, lead to “YES” actions, that create “YES” habits, that develop a “YES” kind of character, so that we may live out a “YES” destiny.

And if we think “NO” thoughts like Eeyore?

Well, I think you get the idea.

I like this “YES” mentality, because even though it is for all areas of our lives, I can also see how it truly translates to the way we approach our health + fitness.

The thoughts we have dictate so much of what we do and how we treat ourselves. Thinking you aren’t good, strong, pretty, fit, thin, (insert whatever here) enough, is so debilitating to your progress.

I fully believe your mindset can drastically affect your outcome. Why would a body that you choose to mentally beat down daily want to shed the weight or go the extra mile or make a healthier food decision? This mental struggle is something I’ve fought with for years. And while I am leaps and bounds from where I used to be, every now again those negative thoughts tend to always creep back in.

Be gracious with yourself. The person you are today is the one who will help you become the person you want to be.  I can only imagine what the health of the world would be like if we woke up every morning and spoke of love and kindness towards ourselves.

So, this week, I encourage you to try something. When you wake up, before your busy day gets started, take a moment and look in the mirror and say 3 positive things about yourself or your life.  It can be physical aspects, or things you are grateful for, but take the time to give a little self-love and say “YES, I am worth it.”

Just as you are. In this moment. YOU ARE WORTH IT.
