We are finally experiencing fall-like weather around here! Yippee!

Adios triple digits, I don’t plan to see you again until next year. *crossing fingers*

With all things fall–ahem, I’m looking at you, pumpkin spice everything–among us, I thought I’d share a Fall Foods List with you guys.

Seasonal eating is a great way to get variety in your diet throughout the year, by providing your body with an ample amount of quality nutrition while keeping your grocery bill to a minimum. And everyone could use a little help saving moolah on their grocery bill, amiright?

Have you ever wondered why strawberries in the middle of December don’t taste as good as the ones in the early summer? That’s because they aren’t naturally growing and shouldn’t be eaten during that time of year!

Think about it, people. As much as Santa might like strawberries, he’s going to have to wait until summer for the year’s best pickins, and that means you should, too.

Foods in season are in ABUNDANCE! This means they are less expensive, and are at the the peak of their freshness, quality + nutritional value. This is great news for all you penny-pinchers! MORE for less! YAAAASSSSSSS.

By eating seasonally, you are fueling your body with what it needs during the temperature changes of your climate.

Have you ever thought about why you crave those comfort foods in the fall/winter months? That’s because cold weather causes us to crave security + feel grounded.

GROUNDED = ROOTED.

And what’s in season during the winter months? Yep, you guessed it. Lots of root vegetables, winter squashes, + hearty greens.

So, it’s October. What should you be eating?

Well, it all depends on where you are located in terms of the list of seasonal foods for your area. The fall fruits + veggies for West Texas look far different than the ones in Hawaii. Most areas have similar in-season foods, but their actual “season” could be shorter or longer depending on where you live. So, do some research and figure out what is exactly in season for your area.
