12 Days of Holistic Holidays: Day 6.

How’s that hangover status? Drink extra water with a pinch of sea salt today to balance those electrolytes, and try your best to avoid caffeine! You’ll rebound like a champ in no time.

Fast for a meal (or two).

Now, hear me out. I don’t want you to think this is restriction, or for it to trigger bad food habits. However, in a season of indulgence, sometimes it is a good idea to lay off of solid food for a little bit in order to give our digestion a break.

No one wants to feel like an over-stuffed turkey, but we all want to make sure we are still properly fueling our bodies so we don’t wreak havoc on our metabolism.

Not hungry? Try fasting for a meal or two to give your body a chance to rest. Opt for green veggie juices made with kale, dandelion greens, cucumber, lemon + ginger. Sip on homemade chicken broth for protein. And of course, stay hydrated.

This doesn’t mean I want you to NOT eat over the holidays. I want you to listen to your body’s signals and pay attention to what it is telling you! Feeling overly full? Cut back on the solid food for a meal or two. Once you regain your appetite, lose the bloated feeling and notice true hunger signals, then pick up your fork!
