Happy Halloween, friends! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and maybe went to a festive party or two.
We hosted our first official get-together since renovating our house in the last 4 years, and even though we still had rooms closed off because they are basically used as storage closets at the moment, we had such a great time entertaining and pool-sharking like nobody’s business. And there may have been way too many fake mustaches and sidewalk chalking (because I’m a mature adult) in between all of the laughs, good food + community we shared.
With October coming to a close, you know what that means! Your monthly Loving Lately post is here! So, without further adieu, here’s what I am loving lately.
Fruits to the Roots
Back in September during my visit to LA, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit a local farmer’s market in the area. My friend Colleen and I perused around the market at least three full times, before finally deciding on what goodies we wanted to pick up + take home with us. Aside from trying my first fresh fig EVER (I know!?), eyeing the great bounty of beautiful produce + talented artisans, we became entranced by a quiet, humble booth on the corner that was occupied by a magnetic soul named Lauren.
After learning about her intentionally made + thoughtfully prepared herbal products, we each purchased an essence mist that resonated with us not only based on it’s scent, but the energetic state it embodies. For me, it was Saturn. I love earthy notes with musky scents of campfire + herbs, like patchouli, spruce + frankincense, so, of course it seemed like a perfect match. And considering that I’ve been learning how to deal with anxiety, I figured I could use some serious grounding help. I love it you guys. Instead of perfume, I wear this instead. If I’m ever feeling anxious, or stressed, or a little “stuck in my head” I simply mist myself with a few pumps, inhale deeply + instantly feel calm, realigned + at peace, and MAN do I smell good. 😉

The more learning, researching + connecting with my body that I have done, I realize that to be a whole, healed person, you have to consider all aspects of your life in order make sustainable change, heal or recover from whatever might be ailing you. Over the last 2 years as I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of my digestive, hormonal + anxiety issues, I’ve been led to everything from scientific facts to metaphysical approaches. Thanks to my as mentioned above friend, Colleen, I learned about the work of Louise Hay. She has countless books, audio, workshops + more on work that might be a little “far out” there for some, but boy did her teachings hit home for me. In this short-list book,
Thanks to my as mentioned above friend, Colleen, I learned about the work of Louise Hay. She has countless books, audio, workshops + more on work that might be a little “far out” there for some, but boy did her teachings hit home for me. In this short-list book, Heal Your Body, (not to be confused with her more in-depth book, Heal Your Life), Louise shares the ailment or body part with it’s associated thought pattern, as well as related, positive affirmations in order to change our perspectives and provide emotional + physical healing. It’s fascinating, y’all. Like… I read through every single item that I struggle with or know isn’t working right, and it couldn’t have hit the nail closer on the head. Seriously, my jaw dropped. I cried at the hurtful truths it revealed, and yet, felt thankful for the release + healing I found through the affirmations.
My goal is to write out all of the affirmations that corresponded with my health issues, and have them be a morning mantra I read each day. I can’t wait to see where it leads. A little skeptical? Check out this quick list version for yourself. But fair warning, I can’t promise that you won’t get chills.
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you’ve probably noticed that lately I’ve had 1 or 2 of these necklaces pictured above (plus others) on at all times. I’ve always been a ring or earring kind of gal, because I felt like I could never find a necklace that really felt like me, until I stepped into Mana Culture in Austin. You’ll find eautiful jewelry all hand-made by ridiculously talented, local artists fill every corner of their light-filled shop.
Magnolia (yes, that’s her real name, and how awesome is it?!), the girl I met at the front desk, happily helped me find + pair the perfect combination of necklaces that fit my taste + style. I felt so taken care of, almost like she was my own personal shopper, and I walked away feeling so good about the pieces I selected. And clearly, I love them, because from meetings to workouts, you’ll see me in one of their necklaces almost every day!
I would say Mana Culture’s jewelry is bohemian chic, but I think anyone can find something that suits their personal style. Not local to ATX? That’s ok! You can view their stunning collections + order online from the comfort of your own home! #dangerous … I may or may not have recently ordered myself a birthday present of more gorgeous goodies to adorn myself with! I just can’t get enough.
That’s it for this month’s Loving Lately!
Tell me, is there something you are loving and want me to try?
I’d love to know, so please share below!
